Aw man, I cannot edit and see the formula on this excel spreadsheet! Can you help to recover the password? YES, but not for free. There are too many websites that provide recovery service for your password protected file and worksheet for a small amount of fee.
Read through this post and you’re gonna be able to do it yourself. Trust me, it's free!
By the way, did I mention that nothing is unbreakable? Yes, I did. Check this post!
First, let’s go through the following introductory paragraph.
There are several passwords in Microsoft Excel:
- File Protection:
a password to open your workbook.
- Worksheet Protection:
protects cells from editing and/or viewing.
- Workbook Protection:
protects hidden sheets and the sheet structure of your excel workbook.
- Sharing Protection:
a password to edit shared workbooks (not so commonly used).
- VBA Password:
a password that protects the VBA code. I will post everything about VBA later, from a very basic (of course!).
This add-in removes the password protection applied by the “Protect sheet” and “Protect workbook” commands in Excel (i.e. enables you to edit the workbook even if you have forgotten your password).
It works on the active workbook, so you have to be able to open the file.
Here it is! Please download this file!
How to use it? First, open your excel file which contains password protected sheets or workbook. And then, simply open the file Password.xlam and then you may notice new "HANxlsx" ribbon. Click "Remove Password". Input www.hanxlsx.com to proceed and then.. Done!
You can also copy and paste the file to the following path to make it permanently installed.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART
Should I explain the VBA code? Oh, don't worry about the details..
